Functions and fields of application

Inductive analogue sensors are the advancement of the inductive proximity switch, enabling not merely the detection of metal objects, but rather of distance or change in position. Proxitron analogue sensors produce electromagnetic fields which are influenced by metals.

This makes it possible to realise a wide range of applications, such as distance measurement or the displacement of metals, sorting them by size or material, measuring the thickness of metal sheets, or even monitoring the fill level of metallic bulk goods. The inductive analogue sensor from Proxitron is not affected by water or dirt, enabling its use in areas which are unsuitable for optical distance sensors.

Our Proxi-Teach technology allows for simple adjustment of the measuring range, adjustment of the linearisation or reversal of the output signal. The standard RS485 interface enables multiple sensors to be queried and analysed individually during bus operation, which even allows for alternating operation to prevent one sensor influencing another, where they are mounted extremely close together.

Practical any design from our inductive proximity switch range is also available with analogue output, which covers a wide range of application possibilities. For demanding applications, variants with an expanded temperature range or versions with special housing materials,  which will be put under heavy strain by aggressive chemical substances, are available.

Inductive analogue sensors from PROXITRON are used in the metal processing industry, mechanical engineering, the energy industry or in the automotive sector and in railway technology, and wherever having more information brings critical advantages. Our longstanding experience with analogue sensors in the widest range of applications allows us to analyse even complex problems and design simple solutions.
